Szanowni Państwo,

jutro przypada ważny dzień dla środowiska akademickiego, w szczególności krakowskiego. 6 listopada 1939 miała miejsce Sonderaktion Krakau - akcja pacyfikacyjna przeprowadzona przez ówczesnych niemieckich okupantów. Profesorowie uczelni krakowskich zostali zaproszeni do Collegium Novum, do Sali Senackiej pod pretekstem debaty na temat funkcjonowania uczelni w czasie okupacji. Po chwili budynek został otoczony przez gestapo, a zgromadzeni usłyszeli obcesowy komunikat o zamknięciu wszystkich polskich uczelni w związku z nieistnieniem Państwa Polskiego. Profesorowie zostali brutalnie zgonieni do podstawionych furgonów (wśród nich profesorowie ówczesnej Akademii Handlowej: Arnold Bolland, Walenty Winid i rektor AH Albin Żabiński, a także matematycy, jak np. Stanisław Gołąb, pierwszy rektor AGH Antoni Hoborski, Tadeusz Ważewski, Antoni Wilk, Witold Wilkosz), a następnie przewiezieni do więzienia na Montelupich, a po kilku miesiącach do obozu koncentracyjnego Sachsenhausen, później innych. Niestety - wielu z naukowców nie przeżyło tej wywózki.

O historii Sonderaktion Krakau wspomina m.in. Wajda w "Katyniu". Warto też wysłuchać relacji ostatnich świadków tych wydarzeń - są dostępne na youtube, na kanale Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. W sieci dostępne są też artykuły na ten temat, z bardziej szczegółowymi informacjami o sytuacji zarówno profesorów, jak i ich rodzin.

Jutro, 6 listopada, na UEK obchodzimy Dzień Pamięci. Rano Władze naszej Uczelni złożyły kwiaty i znicze na grobach Profesorów na Cmentarzu Rakowickim, o 12.00 rozpocznie się Apel Poległych w Budynku Głównym, pod tablicą na półpiętrze w holu głównym. Wieczorem o 19.30 w Kościele Karmelitów przy Rakowickiej odbędzie się Msza Św. w intencji zmarłych Profesorów i Studentów naszej Uczelni. Zachęcam do uczestniczenia w tych wydarzeniach, według własnego poczucia.

Dear Students,

tomorrow is an important day for the academic community, especially in Kraków. On November 6, 1939, Sonderaktion Krakau took place - a pacification operation carried out by the German occupiers. Professors from universities of Kraków were invited to Collegium Novum, to the Senate Hall under the pretext of a debate on the functioning of the university during the occupation. After a while, the building was surrounded by the Gestapo, and the audience heard a harsh message about the closure of all Polish universities due to the non-existence of the Polish State. The professors were brutally forced to enter the vans, waiting in front of building (among them professors of the then Academy of Commerce, olderr sister of Cracow University of Economics: Arnold Bolland, Walenty Winid and rector of AH Albin Żabiński, and mathematicians like Stanisław Gołąb, the first rector of AGH Antoni Hoborski, Tadeusz Ważewski, Antoni Wilk, Witold Wilkosz), then transported to the prison at Montelupich Street, and after a few months sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and later to others. Unfortunately - many scientists did not survive this exportation.

The history of Sonderaktion Krakau is mentioned by, among others, Wajda in "Katyn" movie. It is also worth listening to the accounts of the last witnesses of these events - they are available on youtube, on the Jagiellonian University channel. In the website there is available a plenty of papers about this historical event.

Tomorrow (6.11) we will celebrate the Remembrance Day at UEK. In the morning the Authorities of our Univeristy put the flowers and candels on the graves of Professors at Rakowicki Cementary. At 12.00 the Call of the Fallen in the Main Building will take place. In the evening, at 19.30, there is a St. Mass in the Church vis-a-vis our University, in intention of the passed Professors and Students of our University. I encourage you to participate in those events, according to your personal choice.
